I am extremely pleased with the education that my three children have received at New Life Christian School. NLCS graduates excel in the university setting and are well prepared for college level work. We still have a son at New Life and the other two have received their Masters in their fields. One is going on for his PhD and the other is a Physicians Associate in orthopedic surgery.
In essence some students will experience the harsh hand of "guidance" and the effect of teachers gossip and some students (whose perhaps parents or other relatives either go to the church or work at the school) .. quite simply wont. So basically some students are labeled "GOOD" and some are labeled "BAD." This is a poor example of christian conduct.
As to the environment, it is family-like with love shown for all students. Thanks to the leadership of the Principal, Todd Slabaugh, the School has grown over the past six years academically, spiritually and has financial stability. The School has a well-developed strategic plan that serves as a map and guide towards the future. Critical thinking is stressed at all grade levels.
Students taking the NY Regents testing for algebra, advanced algebra, and geometry this past year had a 100% pass rate on the first attempt taking the exam.
Awesome school! I graduated from NLCS and I loved it! The level of academics at NLCS is unmatched by the public schools. The school board and teachers are very Christ-minded and definitely want what is best for the students. The principal is a great leader for the school and was very involved with the student body. My only regret going there was that I did not take advantage of the college course they tried to set me up with my senior year.
The School recognizes weakness and is working towards strengthening those areas. Are the academics rigorous? Yes. Very satisfied with New Life!
The dress code enforcement is arbitrary and there isn't a gentle explanation or any guidance in terms of the reasoning behind it.
In terms of christianity/religion/god the school outdoes itself with hypocrisy and there are most surely teachers favorites.
System of guidance counselors - THERE IS NONE. In preparing for college students are left to their families or to fend for themselves.
I have young children now and would not hesitate in sending them to NLCS when they become school aged.
I graduated here two years ago and it was probably the best decision I made by going there my senior year. I would recommend it to anybody. Loved all my teachers and how personal they are with you.
This school is unsatisfactory in terms of academic competitiveness. The curriculum is the opposite of rigorous to say the least. They don't offer AP classes or advanced.
I graduated from NLCS years ago, and the education level and caring by the teachers and staff were excellent! I had absolutely no problem in graduating college, because I had been prepared well at NLCS. Aside from academics and learning how to think critically, the greater lessons were in teaching the students how to mature into adulthood, how to effectively communicate and how to carry yourself in a kind and courteous manner, even with difficult people. This has been invaluable in my professional career. Most of all, the staff communicated the love of Christ with us.
